Biloxi I-110 Crash Kills Football Coach and Wife; Suspected Drunk Driver Arrested

BILOXI, Miss. — A crash on Interstate 110 in Biloxi in the early hours of Oct. 3 killed 43-year-old football coach Tony Terrell Miles and his wife, WAFB reported on Oct. 9. The other driver, suspected of driving under the influence, was arrested.
The Mileses' vehicle was struck with tremendous force in the overnight collision, and both died at the scene. Miles was a well-known youth football coach in the area, beloved by players and parents; his wife was active in community affairs. News of their deaths plunged the local football community into mourning, with teams holding moments of silence in their honor.
Police investigators found the suspect driver over the legal alcohol limit. Prosecutors said felony charges will be pursued. Mississippi has seen repeated fatal DUI crashes in recent years, and law enforcement continues to urge the public never to drive after drinking.
Former players flooded social media with tributes, calling Miles not just a coach but a mentor for life. The community has launched a fundraiser to support the family.
