The Beatles' 'Rubber Soul' Returns in Super Deluxe Edition

The Beatles' 1965 classic 'Rubber Soul' returned on Oct. 2 in a super deluxe edition across multiple formats, the week's highest-profile catalog release, according to DraftKings Network's New Music Friday roundup. Streaming data showed the album ranking among the week's top new releases by audience reach, drawing on the band's roughly 34.9 million monthly Spotify listeners.
'Rubber Soul' is a landmark in the Beatles' songwriting evolution; the original album topped the Billboard 200 for six weeks in 1966 and includes 'Norwegian Wood,' 'In My Life' and 'Michelle.' The super deluxe treatment gives the 60-year-old record a full modern reissue campaign, the latest example of labels mining the value of classic catalogs.
The same Friday brought anniversary editions including The Chicks' 'Taking the Long Way' at 20 years and Starsailor's 'Love is Here' at 25. Catalog music's steady streaming economics have made deluxe reissues a standard part of major-label release calendars.
