North Dakota State Shuts Out Wyoming 28-0 on Homecoming, Improves to 5-0

FARGO, N.D. — North Dakota State blanked Wyoming 28-0 on homecoming Saturday at the Fargodome on Oct. 3, moving to 5-0 on the season, gobison.com reported. It was also the Bison's first Mountain West home game of their Division I FBS era.
Linebacker Donovan Woolen set the tone by intercepting Wyoming's pass on the very first play from scrimmage. The Bison defense never relented, holding the Cowboys to eight first downs and 162 yards of total offense. Quarterback Nathan Hayes scored two rushing touchdowns, Drew Klein kicked two field goals and DJ Scott added a late score.
It was the defense's second straight home shutout; through three home games this season, NDSU has allowed just seven points. Hayes rushed for 79 yards and threw for 187.
The game was also the inaugural "Battle of the Basins," a new rivalry trophy sponsored by the North Dakota Petroleum Council — and the Bison kept it in Fargo. NDSU travels to UNLV on Oct. 10.
