Billy Crystal's Solo Show '860' Begins Broadway Previews at the Imperial Theatre

Comedian Billy Crystal's autobiographical solo show '860' began previews on Oct. 1 at Broadway's Imperial Theatre, ahead of an official opening on Oct. 21, according to Playbill and BroadwayWorld. The strictly limited engagement of 12 to 14 weeks is directed by Olivier Award winner Scott Ellis.

The title comes from the street number of the Pacific Palisades house Crystal called home for more than 45 years, which was lost in the Palisades fire. In the show, Crystal relives the memories and moments that mattered most, reflecting on family, friendship, love, luck and loss — and on how laughter can carry people through the hardest times.

Crystal, a Tony and Emmy Award winner whose earlier Broadway solo show '700 Sundays' set box office records, headlines one of the fall season's most anticipated star vehicles. '860' joins a fall Broadway comedy lineup that also includes a new adaptation of Molière's 'The Imaginary Invalid,' opening Oct. 22 at the Todd Haimes Theatre.

Previews are when Broadway productions fine-tune pacing and laughs against real audience reactions. For a piece like '860,' rooted in genuine loss, the balance between tears and comedy will be the central question when critics weigh in at the Oct. 21 opening.
