Wyoming Governor Candidate Barlow Talks Workforce, Rural Health Care in Rock Springs Visit

ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. — Wyoming gubernatorial candidate Eric Barlow visited Rock Springs on Oct. 3, meeting with residents and business leaders to discuss workforce shortages, rural health care and youth retention, the Wyoming News reported. The stop was part of his statewide campaign swing.
Local employers told Barlow that hiring struggles top their list of growth constraints. Barlow said that, if elected, he would expand career and technical education and apprenticeships, better connecting schools with employers so young people gain practical skills and stay in Wyoming to work.
Rural health care drew heavy focus. Sweetwater County's medical resources are limited, forcing residents to travel long distances for specialty care. Barlow advocated stronger support for rural clinics, wider use of telemedicine to fill gaps, and incentives to draw more providers to frontline practice.
Barlow also addressed keeping young people in the state, saying Wyoming must offer competitive jobs and quality of life so youth don't have to leave. Attendees praised his pragmatic approach.
