Connecticut Wins SBA Disaster Declaration for September Flooding; Three Counties Eligible for Low-Interest Loans

HARTFORD — Connecticut's congressional delegation and Governor Ned Lamont announced that the U.S. Small Business Administration has approved a disaster declaration for Fairfield County and the contiguous counties of New Haven and Litchfield following the September 13, 2026 flash flooding. Homeowners, renters, businesses and nonprofits in the affected counties can now apply for low-interest SBA loans to aid recovery.
"This declaration makes low-interest loans available to homeowners, renters, businesses, and nonprofits so they can recover and rebound from these flash floods," Governor Lamont said. Congressman John B. Larson called it a crucial step so small businesses, local organizations and homeowners can get help repairing and rebuilding after flood damage.
SBA disaster loans can be used to repair homes and business properties damaged by the flooding. The governor's office encouraged all impacted residents to look into the assistance.
