DeSantis Opens I-95 Interchange at Oslo Road: $100 Million Project Finishes a Year Early

Sunday, October 4, 2026 · States · GSM News

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced Oct. 5 the opening of the new Interstate 95 interchange at Oslo Road in Indian River County. The $100 million project was originally scheduled for completion in spring 2027 and opened a year ahead of schedule.

DeSantis appeared with Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Jared Perdue at the opening. "We've become an economic powerhouse," DeSantis said. "We've done the biggest investment in road construction in Florida's history." He credited FDOT with speeding up construction, moving many projects well ahead of schedule — some by 15 years.

Construction began Aug. 14, 2023. The state said the new interchange brings critical new connections to I-95, shortening commutes and aiding emergency vehicles, with emergency response times expected to drop by more than 50 percent. The project also includes a gopher tortoise relocation site on the rights of way — the first of its kind in the state.

Indian River County Sheriff Eric Flowers, state Sen. Erin Grall, state Rep. Robert Brackett and other local officials attended. The state said Sarasota County's River Road widening also finished six months early.
