Gianforte Announces Trade Mission to India and Sri Lanka Oct. 5-9 with 30+ Delegation

HELENA — Montana Governor Greg Gianforte has announced he will lead a 30-plus-member delegation to India and Sri Lanka Oct. 5-9 on a strategic trade mission, promoting Montana agriculture, higher education, critical minerals, manufacturing, photonics, quantum technology and bioscience.
Gianforte said India is an important emerging market for Montana: the state is the nation's top producer of chickpeas and lentils, and India bought more than $14 million in Montana agricultural products in 2025 ($64 million in 2024). India is currently Montana's 29th-largest trading partner. The delegation will also meet U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor in New Delhi.
It is another overseas trade mission of Gianforte's tenure; he has previously led delegations to Asia and Europe to open new markets for Montana farm products and high-tech industries. State officials said the delegation includes ranchers and farmers, university representatives and tech executives.
Sri Lanka is a new stop on this trip. The state said South Asian demand for Montana pulses, beef and minerals keeps growing.
