Ella Langley's 'Dandelion' Misses No. 1 by Just 70 Units in Closest Chart Race of the Year

Sunday, October 4, 2026 · Music · GSM News

Country singer Ella Langley's new album 'Dandelion' debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with about 61,000 equivalent album units — just 70 units behind the No. 1 album, a margin of about one-tenth of 1% that made it the closest chart race of the year, according to Parade and Billboard chart reporting.

The top spot went to Miley (formerly Miley Cyrus), whose new album opened with about 61,000 units for her first No. 1 since 2013's 'Bangerz.' For Langley, the No. 2 debut was nonetheless a career best, extending her breakout year in country music.

Chart analysts noted that the razor-thin margin underscored the first-week impact of multi-format physical releases: the No. 1 album was issued in 16 vinyl variants, nine CD versions and six download versions, alongside a digital price cut. Langley's team moved quickly to extend the album's momentum, announcing additional tour dates as the next chart week approached.

Langley's 2026 has been a banner year: beyond the album's performance, multiple tour dates sold out quickly, and her label has floated her as a candidate for stadium-level touring next year. Industry figures say the sustained presence of country women at the top of the Billboard 200 reflects the broader streaming-era rise of Nashville's new singer-songwriter generation.
