All-Star Revival of 'Other Desert Cities' in Previews at Broadway's Hudson Theatre
The first Broadway revival of Jon Robin Baitz's 'Other Desert Cities' began previews Sept. 29 at the Hudson Theatre, ahead of an Oct. 18 opening and a limited run through Jan. 17, 2027, according to Playbill and BroadwayWorld. Tony Award winner John Benjamin Hickey directs.
The cast is among the fall's strongest for a straight play: Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Joe Keery both make their Broadway debuts, alongside Ed Harris, Allison Janney and Lily Rabe. The play opens at a Christmas Eve reunion in the Palm Springs home of a politically connected family, where a daughter returns with a memoir that threatens to expose a long-buried secret — setting off a battle over memory, loyalty and who owns a family's story.
First produced in 2011, the play was a Tony Award nominee and a Pulitzer Prize for Drama finalist. Ticketing platforms including SeatGeek highlighted the revival as the fall's clearest actor-driven showcase, and its first preview week drew strong houses.
The Hudson Theatre on West 44th Street has built a reputation for star-led play revivals, and this production is considered the anchor of its fall season.
