Sunday, October 4, 2026 · States · GSM News

Mayor Muriel Bowser used the Anacostia Coordinating Council's 33rd annual "Vote Boat" brunch cruise on October 3 to reflect on her 22 years in public office and to press the next generation of city leaders, East of the River DC News reported on October 5.

"The next mayor has a big job to do… Keep the pressure on the next mayor," Bowser told the crowd aboard the Odyssey. The mayor traced her path from Riggs Park community commissioner to Ward 4 councilmember to her 2014 election as mayor.

Candidates aboard the cruise included Attorney General Brian Schwalb, At-Large Councilmembers Elissa Silverman and Robert White, and council hopefuls Salim Adofo and Oye Owolewa. Also present were Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton and Council Chairman Phil Mendelson.

The annual cruise along the Anacostia River has become a fixture of D.C.'s political calendar, drawing elected officials and candidates weeks before Election Day.
