Iowa Governor Taps Former Rep. Jon Dunwell for Utilities Commission
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced on October 5 the nomination of former state Representative Jon Dunwell to the Iowa Utilities Commission. According to the Des Moines Register, Dunwell previously served in the state House and is familiar with energy and regulatory policy; the nomination requires state Senate confirmation. The Iowa Utilities Commission regulates electric and natural gas rates and service standards statewide, making appointments closely watched by industry. Reynolds said Dunwell's legislative experience qualifies him for the role and that he will balance consumer protection with support for energy infrastructure investment. Confirmation is expected in the next legislative session.
