Trump Announces $6.6B Anduril Submarine Facility in Baltimore, 13,000 Jobs

Tuesday, October 6, 2026 · White House · GSM News

President Trump on Tuesday announced a $6.6 billion Anduril submarine manufacturing facility in Baltimore, projected to create over 13,000 direct and indirect jobs and $2 billion in annual economic output.

The White House framed it as part of Trump's maritime action plan to rebuild US shipbuilding capacity, strengthen the defense industrial base and revitalize manufacturing. Anduril, founded by Palmer Luckey — recently named to a Pentagon "Project Meridian" panel on the military's future — finalized the contract with the Pentagon's "Deal Team Six."

The US has 26 Virginia-class nuclear attack submarines and aims to build two per year. "China competes with us," a senior official said, "not only at sea... but very strongly in commercial shipping."

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore complained he was "un-invited"; the White House countered it had "graciously invited" him as a guest. (Via NY Post)
