Tuesday, October 6, 2026 · World News · GSM News

Bulgaria's prime minister said Tuesday that drones hit two commercial ships off the country's Black Sea coast, sinking one and setting the other ablaze, with rescue operations underway.

The New York Times reported it was the first such attack on vessels in Bulgarian waters. Separately, a Turkish-owned cargo vessel was reportedly struck by Russian drones with 11 crew members, including Indians, rescued; another report said a cargo ship sank after a drone attack near Bulgaria with crew missing.

Black Sea shipping security has escalated again as the Russia-Ukraine war increasingly affects maritime infrastructure and routes. (Via U.S. media including The New York Times)
