Jackie Chan Wraps Kazakhstan Shoot of 'Armour of God IV: Ultimatum' at Astana Press Conference; 2027 Release Planned
Jackie Chan appeared at a press conference in Astana on October 6 to announce that filming in Kazakhstan had wrapped on Armour of God IV: Ultimatum, the fourth installment of the Armour of God franchise, produced by Kazakhstan's Salem Entertainment as its first international project. Shooting began in July, with locations including the Bozzhyra tract in the Mangystau Region.
Opening his remarks with "Salam aleikum," Chan said: "In my experience, things usually remain just words, but Kazakhstan was different. From the very beginning until the final day of shooting, I can honestly say that this was one of the best production teams I have worked with in my life. We encountered virtually no problems while filming in Kazakhstan." According to Qazinform, the Kazakh national news agency, Chan also noted that the shoot went smoothly apart from two injuries he sustained himself, including a broken bone. He thanked the Kazakh government, police, security staff and the whole crew, saying this was "the first time, but not the last time," that the team had begun discussing its next project two days earlier, and adding: "I will come back again."
Directed by Robert Kun, the film sees Chan return as his classic character, the Asian Hawk, in a race for an ancient artifact called the Tumar, which carries a bounty of more than $20 million. It is the fourth film in the series that began in 1986. Production is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year, with a release planned for 2027. Kazakhstan's First Vice-Minister of Culture and Information also attended the press conference to discuss the country's film rebate scheme and promotion of Kazakh cinema abroad.
