An SUV driven by a teenage driver veered onto a sidewalk in Lindenwold, New Jersey on the afternoon of October 6, striking six students and sending them to the hospital, police said. The crash occurred near a school as students were walking home for the day.

According to police, the SUV jumped the curb and plowed into the group of students on the sidewalk. Six students were injured, with several transported to area hospitals for treatment. Police said injuries ranged from minor to serious, but none were believed to be life-threatening.

The teenage driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Police are looking into whether speed, distraction, or driver inexperience played a role. No charges had been filed as of the evening of October 6.

The incident has shaken the Lindenwold community and reignited local concerns about pedestrian safety near schools. The Camden County school district said counselors will be available for students in the coming days.
