Tuesday, October 6, 2026 · City · GSM News

An elementary school in the Carmichael community of Sacramento County was evacuated on Tuesday, October 6, after officials received a bomb threat, authorities said. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office responded around 1 p.m. to the California Montessori School on Kermit Lane after the school received the threat.

The campus was evacuated as deputies and bomb-detection dogs swept the property, according to the sheriff's office. Authorities later confirmed that all students were accounted for and no injuries were reported. The Carmichael campus serves students from transitional kindergarten through eighth grade and has more than 680 students enrolled. The school is part of the California Montessori Project, a tuition-free public charter-school network serving more than 3,000 students across six campuses in the Sacramento region.

Carmichael, an unincorporated Sacramento County community, is home to roughly 80,000 residents. Police said the investigation was ongoing and asked anyone with information to come forward.
