LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee and Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Oct. 7 attended a ceremony at the Arkansas State Capitol marking the third anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel, NOWlej reported.

The event brought together state officials, faith leaders and community members to remember the victims of the Oct. 7, 2023, attack — the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust — and to stand in solidarity with Israel. Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor now serving as U.S. ambassador to Israel, and his daughter, the current governor, both addressed the gathering.

The elder Huckabee, a longtime supporter of Israel who took up the ambassador's post in 2025, spoke about the enduring U.S.-Israel alliance and the importance of remembering the hostages still held in Gaza. Sanders said Arkansas stands firmly with Israel and pledged the state's continued friendship.

The ceremony included prayers, a moment of silence and the lighting of memorial candles. Organizers said similar commemorations were held in Jewish communities and state capitals across the country.

Arkansas has been among the most pro-Israel states in the nation, with the legislature passing measures supporting Israel over the years. Wednesday's event drew a bipartisan audience, reflecting the broad support for the alliance in the state.

The State Capitol was lit in blue and white lights Wednesday evening, remaining illuminated for a week in remembrance.
