Fed Minutes: Unanimous September Hike; Most Officials See One More This Year

The Federal Reserve on October 7 released minutes of its September 15–16 meeting: officials voted unanimously to raise rates by 25 basis points to a range of 3.75%–4.00%, the first hike since July 2023.
The minutes show most participants judged that one more increase would likely be appropriate by year-end to curb persistent inflation; after the release, futures traders cut the implied odds of an October hike to about 20%. The next policy meeting is set for October 27–28.
