Trump Touts Anduril's $3.7B Sparrows Point Investment With Ravens Players on Hand

SPARROWS POINT, Md. — President Donald Trump on Oct. 6 visited Tradepoint Atlantic in Sparrows Point, Maryland, to celebrate defense technology company Anduril's $3.7 billion investment at the former Bethlehem Steel site, an event that also drew four Baltimore Ravens players.
The announcement ranks among the largest industrial investments in the Baltimore region in decades. Anduril Industries, the Costa Mesa-based defense technology firm founded by Palmer Luckey, plans to build advanced manufacturing facilities at the sprawling waterfront complex, where it will produce autonomous systems and other defense hardware. Company officials said the project will create thousands of manufacturing and engineering jobs.
The Sparrows Point site carries deep symbolic weight in the Baltimore area. Bethlehem Steel's mill there was once among the largest steel plants in the world, employing tens of thousands at its peak before its decline and closure. Tradepoint Atlantic has spent the past decade redeveloping the 3,300-acre property into a logistics and industrial hub, and the Anduril project is its most high-profile win to date.
Trump touted the investment as evidence that American manufacturing is roaring back under his administration, telling the crowd the project would strengthen both the economy and national defense. State and local officials, including Maryland's congressional delegation, said the investment validates years of work to revitalize the waterfront and promised cooperation on infrastructure and workforce training.
The appearance of four Ravens players underscored the event's profile in the Baltimore area, where the football team remains a powerful cultural force. The players posed for photos with workers and toured the redevelopment site alongside the president's entourage.
