Kearney Man Sentenced to 300 Months in Federal Prison on Child Pornography Charges

KEARNEY, Neb. — A Kearney man was sentenced Oct. 7 to 300 months — 25 years — in federal prison on child pornography charges, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Nebraska announced.
Paul Gray was sentenced in federal court in Lincoln after being convicted on charges stemming from an investigation into the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material. Federal prosecutors said the evidence showed Gray collected and shared images and videos depicting the sexual exploitation of minors.
In addition to the 300-month prison term, Gray will face a lengthy period of supervised release following his incarceration, and will be required to register as a sex offender. The sentence reflects the gravity federal law assigns to crimes involving the sexual exploitation of children.
Federal officials said the case was investigated by the FBI and local law enforcement partners in central Nebraska, and prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, the Justice Department's nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation. The initiative brings together federal, state and local resources to identify offenders and rescue victims.
Prosecutors urged anyone with information about the exploitation of children to contact law enforcement or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
The case is one of several child exploitation prosecutions the U.S. Attorney's Office has brought in Nebraska this year, and prosecutors said such crimes remain a top priority.
