Trump Rallies in San Antonio to Campaign for Ken Paxton

SAN ANTONIO — President Donald Trump headlined a rally in San Antonio on Oct. 7 to campaign for Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, drawing thousands of supporters to the Alamo City in a show of force less than a month before the midterms, USA Today reported.
Trump threw his full political weight behind Paxton's campaign, praising the attorney general's record of suing the federal government and urging Texans to turn out in November. Paxton, one of Trump's closest allies in Texas, introduced the president to roars from the crowd.
The rally underscored Texas's central role in the national political map. Though Republicans have dominated statewide offices for three decades, Democrats have invested heavily in the state, and the party's performance in Texas's fast-growing suburbs is being watched as a bellwether for the midterms.
Trump also used the San Antonio stage to rail against his political opponents, tout his administration's record on the economy and immigration, and preview the closing message of the midterm campaign. Supporters waved flags and wore campaign gear, with vendors doing brisk business outside the venue.
The San Antonio stop was part of a broader late-campaign push by Trump across battleground and Republican stronghold states. Paxton's campaign said the rally provided a major fundraising and volunteer-signup boost heading into the final weeks.
Paxton's campaign said online fundraising hit a quarterly high the night of the rally.
