Northern Virginia Sting Targets Prostitution, Rescues Trafficking Victims in Manassas

MANASSAS, Va. — Law enforcement agencies across Northern Virginia carried out a coordinated prostitution and human trafficking sting Oct. 6, arresting multiple suspects in Manassas and connecting suspected trafficking victims with support services, Fox 5 DC reported.
The multi-agency operation targeted illicit massage businesses and online prostitution activity in Manassas, Fairfax County and Prince William County. Undercover officers arranged meetings through online advertisements, leading to arrests at hotels and commercial locations. Police said several women believed to be victims of human trafficking were identified during the operation and referred to victim advocates.
Authorities said operations of this kind serve a dual purpose: holding traffickers and buyers accountable while reaching victims who may be too frightened or controlled to seek help on their own. Several of those arrested face charges including solicitation of prostitution, and investigators said additional charges could follow as cases are reviewed.
Northern Virginia's location along the busy Interstate 95 corridor has long made it a concern for anti-trafficking advocates, who say the region's transient population and proximity to Washington, D.C., create conditions traffickers exploit. Local police departments have in recent years stepped up joint operations, pairing enforcement with victim-centered outreach.
Officials urged anyone who suspects trafficking activity to contact local law enforcement or the National Human Trafficking Hotline. Police said the identities of the rescued women were being withheld to protect their safety and privacy.
