Duracell to Invest $56 Million in Atlanta Innovation Center as Georgia Foreign Investment Hits Record

ATLANTA — Atlanta is a city in Fulton County, Georgia. Battery maker Duracell announced it will invest $56 million in a new innovation center near the Georgia Institute of Technology, according to Georgia Trend, citing the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The project is among the foreign-investment wins recently announced by the state, with the site chosen for its access to Georgia Tech's engineering talent and research resources; the center will focus on product research, development and testing.

State figures show that in the fiscal year ended June 2026, Georgia attracted $7.8 billion in foreign direct investment tied to roughly 9,350 jobs, a record. Economic development officials said international companies continue to place research and advanced-manufacturing projects in the Atlanta metropolitan area, drawn by its universities, airport logistics and business climate.

Duracell, headquartered in Connecticut, is one of the world's best-known alkaline battery brands. The company said the Atlanta center will collaborate with Georgia Tech's engineering programs, with hiring timelines and job details to be announced. The project adds to a string of corporate research facilities landing in Atlanta's innovation corridor.

State development officials note that Georgia has ranked near the top of national business-climate surveys for years, and that recruiting international research and advanced-manufacturing projects is a stated priority. The Atlanta area competes on the strength of Hartsfield-Jackson's global flight network, the state university system and comparatively low operating costs. A site next to Georgia Tech gives Duracell direct access to graduates and laboratory resources and plugs the center into Midtown's technology cluster. The city expects the project to lift nearby restaurant, retail and housing demand; construction timelines and job postings will be detailed in later announcements by the company and the state.
