Volaris Launches Three-Times-Weekly Nonstop Service Between Chicago O'Hare and Puebla

Thursday, October 8, 2026 · City · GSM News

Chicago is a city in Cook County, Illinois. Mexican low-cost carrier Volaris has launched nonstop service between Chicago O'Hare International Airport and Puebla, Mexico, operating three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays — a new direct link for Chicago's large Mexican and Mexican-American community.

The route arrived ahead of its original schedule. When Volaris first announced the Chicago route on August 7, service was slated to begin December 1, 2026; the Chicago airport's October 8 update instead describes the service as already operating, and issued a launch celebration notice. Aviation Week's October 9 route roundup independently confirmed that Volaris had begun the three-times-weekly nonstop, listing the same operating days. Travelers should still check the airline's live calendar for exact dates in each direction, as the airport notice did not pin down the first revenue flight and return schedules do not necessarily mirror outbound days.

Puebla is among Mexico's most populous states and a leading source of Chicago's Mexican immigrant community, making visiting-friends-and-relatives traffic the backbone of the route. The nonstop replaces routings that typically required a connection through Mexico City or another hub, cutting hours from the journey.
