Colorado Governor Candidates Share a Stage for First and Only Time at Denver Forum
Colorado's two major-party candidates for governor appeared together on the same stage for the first — and so far only — time on October 8, at a Colorado Chamber of Commerce forum in Denver, CPR News reported.
Republican Victor Marx and Democrat Phil Weiser, the state's current attorney general, spoke at The Legacy at the National Western Center in an hourlong forum. Marx, who has declined all formal debates, was given the questions in advance and read his answers verbatim.
The format drew criticism from former Colorado Republican Party chair Dick Wadhams, who faulted Marx's performance as showing "profound ignorance" of state issues. Weiser, by contrast, answered questions without notes.
With less than a month until the November 3 election, the forum may be the only joint appearance voters get to compare the two candidates side by side.
