Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds on Oct. 8 issued a disaster proclamation for Pottawattamie County, which has been struck by severe storms that began Sept. 29 and are continuing, opening state aid to affected residents. The 30-day proclamation activates Individual Assistance grants of up to $7,000 for households at or below 200% of the federal poverty level to help with disaster costs, with 45 days to apply. A companion Disaster Case Advocacy program has no income limit and remains open for 180 days, helping residents connect with recovery resources.
