Thursday, October 8, 2026 · States · GSM News

A multi-agency commercial vehicle enforcement blitz in Williston, North Dakota, produced 494 violations from 109 inspections, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration reported on October 8.

The operation included 20 hazardous-materials inspections. Of the 494 violations found, 122 resulted in vehicles or drivers being placed out of service. Officers issued 47 enforcement actions — 27 citations and 20 warnings.

Participating agencies included the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Watford City Police Department and the McKenzie County Sheriff's Office.

FMCSA said the coordinated operation targeted unsafe commercial vehicles in the Bakken oil region, where heavy truck traffic serving the energy industry has long raised safety concerns.
