New Jersey ANCHOR Property Tax Relief Payments Begin Landing in Bank Accounts

New Jersey homeowners and renters who chose direct deposit began receiving their ANCHOR property tax relief payments on October 8, the first day of the program's direct-deposit wave, APP.com reported.
The ANCHOR (Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters) benefit is a continuation of the state's property tax relief program. Under the current round, eligible homeowners with household incomes up to $150,000 receive $1,500; those earning between $150,000 and $250,000 receive $1,000. Eligible renters receive $450.
The first wave of payments went out on September 15, and payments are being issued in waves through the fall. More than 1 million New Jersey residents filed automatically for the benefit, and the payments are based on 2025 residency, income and age information.
The fiscal year 2027 state budget allocates $2.186 billion for the program. The state Treasury has advised recipients who selected direct deposit to allow time for funds to post, and those receiving paper checks to expect delivery in the coming weeks.
