Nevada Gaming Board Advances Sweeping Tech Standards, Pushes Effective Date to 2027

Thursday, October 8, 2026 · States · GSM News

The Nevada Gaming Control Board on October 7 took up 10 revised technology standards governing casino systems, pushing the effective date to October 1, 2027, iGaming Times reported on October 8.

Technology Division Chief Jeremy Eberwein presented the revisions to Standards 3 and 5 through 13. Standards 3, 5 and 6 are updates to existing rules; Standards 7 through 13 are new, covering system security and reporting, race and sports wagering, pari-mutuel systems, keno, bingo, cashless wagering, and casino cage, credit and table-game systems.

The board moved the effective date from October 23, 2026, to October 1, 2027, and reopened the public comment period through November 15 under Notice 2026-52. The package consolidates 15 years of minimum internal control standards and technical notices.

Board Chair Mike Dreitzer said the extended timeline gives operators and regulators room to implement the most sweeping technology update in years.

This article is a follow-up to GSM's Oct. 7 report that the Nevada Gaming Control Board had taken up a comprehensive rewrite of the state's gaming technology standards (Nevada Gaming Control Board Takes Up Rewrite of Technology Standards).
