Arkansas Lands $2.2 Billion Ammunition Campus at Pine Bluff Arsenal With Nearly 400 Jobs Planned

Hanwha Defense USA announced on September 21 that it will build an ammunition manufacturing campus at the U.S. Army's Pine Bluff Arsenal in Arkansas, a $2.2 billion capital investment expected to create nearly 400 jobs over seven years at an average hourly wage above $50. The campus will produce key munitions components, including 155mm artillery propelling charges and base-bleed units; the company's administrative headquarters is already operating locally, and the campus lease was awarded in January. The project forms part of the Army's push to expand domestic artillery ammunition capacity and strengthen its supply chain, and the investment is seen as a renewed commitment to Pine Bluff Arsenal, which has long handled munitions and chemical production for the military. Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders welcomed the project, saying it will bring high-paying manufacturing jobs to Arkansans. Hanwha said the campus will be built and brought online in phases, working closely with the Army and supply-chain partners. For southeastern Arkansas, it ranks among the largest manufacturing investments in recent years and is expected to spur additional jobs at nearby suppliers and service businesses.
