San Jose Wins Nearly $3.96 Million State Grant to Run ARC Youth Program Through 2031

Friday, October 9, 2026 · City · GSM News

The City of San Jose, in Santa Clara County, California, has been awarded $3,959,448 under Cohort 4 of the Proposition 64 Public Health and Safety Grant Program, administered by the California Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC). The city's Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services is the lead agency.

The BSCC's published Cohort 4 list shows $227,152,160 awarded to cities and counties across California, with San Jose among the recipients.

According to the city, the funding supports the ARC Program — ARC stands for Accountability, Resilience and Connection — a youth development, prevention and intervention initiative run in participating middle schools and their feeder high schools. It serves middle school and early high school students who may be vulnerable to cannabis use, violence, chronic absenteeism, school disengagement, suspensions and juvenile justice involvement. The grant term runs from July 1, 2026 through December 31, 2031, and the city has opened a grant management position to handle the program's fiscal administration and audit preparation.
