EDEN PRAIRIE — The Hennepin County Attorney's Office filed charges on October 9 in the shooting outside Eden Prairie High School's homecoming football game, according to FOX 9 and the Minnesota News Network. Adam Abdihakeem Adam, 18, is charged with two counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of second-degree riot with a dangerous weapon; four other men each face one count of third-degree riot.

The shooting occurred on the evening of October 2. Prosecutors allege surveillance video showed two cars entering a parking lot, a fight involving about 10 people, and the driver of one car stepping out and firing at two victims before fleeing. Two teenagers, ages 17 and 18, were injured, and the stadium was evacuated. Investigators say phone and vehicle tracking led them to the suspect, and a search of his St. Louis Park home found clothing matching what the shooter wore on video.

County Attorney Mary Moriarty said in a statement that the incident endangered the community and praised Eden Prairie police investigators. FOX 9 reported the suspect was arrested on October 8 and was scheduled to appear in court on the afternoon of October 12; the other four were charged by warrant, and it was not clear whether they were in custody.

Prosecutors stress the charges are allegations, the defendant is presumed innocent unless convicted, and the complaint does not establish a motive. The case was Minnesota's most closely followed public-safety story on October 9.
