Florida Panhandle Schools Close or Dismiss Early Oct. 9 Ahead of Isaias
With Hurricane Isaias approaching, the Florida Department of Education said schools across more than a dozen Panhandle counties, including Bay, Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa and Walton, were closed on October 9, while Leon County dismissed students early on a staggered schedule. Parents should rely on district websites and text alerts, not social media rumors; reopening will depend on weather and road conditions.
