DOJ and FBI Seize Two Hacking Tools Tied to Alleged China-Linked Intrusions

The U.S. Department of Justice and the FBI announced court-authorized seizures intended to deny access to two intrusion tools, Microscan and FishHub. Officials said the tools were used to scan and, in some cases, hack U.S. and foreign critical infrastructure systems and other networks.
Court documents allege the tools were operated by people working for China-based Integrity Technology Group and were tied to activity known as Flax Typhoon. Targets cited by officials included a U.S. power company, airports, universities and critical infrastructure organizations, and the agencies also issued a cybersecurity advisory for network defenders.
