Iowa Issues Disaster Proclamation for Pottawattamie County After Severe Storms

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds issued a disaster proclamation on October 8 for Pottawattamie County in response to severe storms that began September 29, 2026. The proclamation takes effect immediately for 30 days, allowing state resources to support response and recovery, and activating the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program and the Disaster Case Advocacy Program.
The individual assistance program offers grants of up to $7,000 for households earning up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level, covering home repairs, replacement of personal property or food, and temporary housing, with applications due within 45 days. The case advocacy program has no income limit and helps residents build a recovery plan and connect to services.
