Kansas KDHE Issues Stream Advisory After Livestock Wastewater Discharge

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) issued a stream advisory on October 7 after about 1.4 million gallons of manure-contaminated wastewater from a confined feeding facility entered McIntyre Creek in Pottawatomie County, flowing toward Tuttle Creek Lake and a downstream stretch of the Kansas River. KDHE said dilution would minimize impacts to downstream public water supply users as response work continued.
