GSK to Invest More Than $800 Million in Pennsylvania Biopharma Hub, Creating Over 300 Jobs

Saturday, October 10, 2026 · States · GSM News

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Rick Siger announced on October 9 that GSK will invest more than $800 million to expand its Upper Merion Township site in Montgomery County. The project is expected to create more than 300 jobs over five years and retain about 4,500 full-time jobs across the Commonwealth.

Construction is planned to begin in 2027. The expanded campus will combine commercial-scale biologics manufacturing, a co-located R&D pilot plant, a centralized quality-control lab and a manufacturing science and technology hub, with advanced digital capabilities. It is GSK's second major Pennsylvania expansion under Shapiro, bringing the company's announced investment in the state to nearly $1.7 billion.
