Rhode Island Seeks Comment on Westerly Lead Service Line Project

The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) announced on October 9 that it is seeking public comment on its intent to issue a Categorical Exclusion for the Westerly Water Department's proposed lead service line replacement project. The determination indicates the state has preliminarily found the project will not have significant environmental impacts. Replacing lead service lines is a nationwide drinking-water safety priority, and residents may submit written comments to RIDOH's Center for Drinking Water Quality during the notice period.
