Kerry Park Shooting in Seattle Injures Two Men; Juvenile Arrested
Seattle is a city in King County, Washington. The Seattle Police Department confirmed that around 3:30 a.m. on October 10, officers responded to reports of shots fired at Kerry Park in the Queen Anne neighborhood, where two men were injured in a shooting and a juvenile was arrested.
According to FOX 13 Seattle, officers made contact with a vehicle upon arrival and found a rifle along with about 50 casings of both rifle and handgun calibers. While investigating, officers learned that two men had checked into a nearby hospital at separate times — one with a gunshot wound to his leg, the other with a gunshot wound to his hip.
Police said one juvenile was arrested on assault charges but released no further details. It remains unclear what the relationship was between the two wounded men and the arrested juvenile, or what led to the shooting.
Kerry Park is one of Seattle's best-known viewpoints, famous for its sweeping view of the downtown skyline and the Space Needle, and draws visitors and residents at night. Police said the case remains under investigation and asked anyone with information to come forward. It was the second public-safety incident drawing attention in Seattle that morning — a pedestrian was struck and killed near the Ballard Bridge in the early hours as well.
