Alhambra Hotel Tax Measure Would Extend to Short-Term Rentals, Raising an Estimated $134,000 a Year
Alhambra is a city in Los Angeles County, California. Measure HT on Alhambra's ballot would extend the city's existing 12% hotel tax to short-term rentals such as Airbnb and Vrbo, generating an estimated $134,000 a year for 911 emergency response, fire protection and parks. City officials say short-term rentals use the same city services and should bear the same tax as hotels. The measure does not change the general tax rate for local residents; voters will decide it at the election.
