Washington Nominates 99 Opportunity Zones Across 27 Counties and 17 Tribal Lands

Washington Governor Bob Ferguson announced on October 8 that the state has nominated 99 low-income and rural areas for the federal Opportunity Zones 2.0 program. The nominees cover 27 counties and 17 tribal lands, with designations scheduled to take effect January 1, 2027.
The Washington State Department of Commerce said the 99 areas were selected from 152 applications, including 36 in rural communities. The updated program uses tax incentives to draw private investment into housing, businesses and real estate, with stronger reporting requirements.
