Wisconsin Proclaims October FAFSA Filing Month, Urges Early Aid Applications
Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers has proclaimed October as FAFSA Filing Month statewide. The Department of Financial Institutions and the Higher Educational Aids Board announced the proclamation on October 6, urging students and families to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid early for the 2027-28 academic year. The form determines eligibility for federal, state and school-based grants, scholarships, work-study and federal loans, and is also required by some private scholarship providers.
College Goal Wisconsin will offer free in-person and virtual completion events throughout October. State officials said filing early helps families meet deadlines and learn sooner what aid may be available.
