Mavericks Avenge Rockets 132-115 in Macao NBA China Games: Flagg Posts 14 Points, 7 Assists in New Coach's First Win

Dallas is a city in Dallas County, Texas. The Dallas Mavericks avenged their opening loss with a 132-115 victory over the Houston Rockets on October 11 in Game 2 of the NBA China Games 2026 at the Venetian Arena in Macao, according to the team's official channel and Sports Illustrated. No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg posted 14 points and 7 assists, while Kyrie Irving returned to action.
Houston had routed Dallas 135-117 in the opener less than 48 hours earlier, with Fred VanVleet scoring 17 points and Alperen Sengun recording a triple-double of 16 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in just under 22 minutes, Sports Illustrated reported. Rockets general manager Rafael Stone had decided to rest Kevin Durant for the second game.
The win was the first for new Mavericks head coach Dusty May, who had said he hoped Irving would travel with the team to Macao. Speaking before the game about playing alongside Flagg, Irving said his role is to take pressure off the young star on offense, adding "he's only going to continue to get better," Heavy Sports reported.
The China Games are a key stop on Dallas's preseason schedule. The regular season tips off October 24, when the Mavericks host the Western Conference champion San Antonio Spurs at the American Airlines Center.
