Greece Advises Citizens to Avoid Non-Essential Travel to Saudi Arabia

The government of Greece advised its nationals on 11 October 2026 to refrain from non-essential travel to Saudi Arabia, citing developing conditions in the Middle East region and airspace restrictions imposed by the Saudi authorities. The advisory was published through the Greek foreign ministry.
Greek nationals already in Saudi Arabia are instructed to communicate with their airline, obtain all relevant information and cooperate with the local authorities. The full text of the advisory is carried on the foreign ministry's website.
The announcement is a travel advisory, not a legal prohibition on travel, and it does not define which individual journeys qualify as essential. A holiday booking, family commitment or business appointment therefore needs to be reassessed by the traveller against the stated conditions.
Air travel is the main link between Greece and the Middle East, and airspace restrictions directly affect routings and schedules. Further arrangements and notices are issued through the airlines, the Greek foreign ministry and destination authorities.
