Kipchoge, 41, Wins in Melbourne in Course-Record 2:09:10 — His First Marathon Victory in Three Years

Kenya's Eliud Kipchoge, the two-time Olympic marathon champion, won the Melbourne Marathon on Sunday in a course record of 2 hours, 9 minutes and 10 seconds, Reuters reported — his first marathon victory in three years and the 17th win of his career over the distance, at age 41. His previous win came in Berlin in 2023.
Australia's Thomas Do Canto finished second in 2:10:35 and compatriot Reece Edwards third in 2:14:33. New Zealand's Camille French won the women's race in 2:28:25.
The Melbourne run is part of Kipchoge's campaign to race a marathon on all seven continents over two years, which he launched at the Cape Town Marathon in May.
