South Carolina stuns No. 15 Florida 38-19, snapping eight-game SEC losing streak

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — South Carolina rolled No. 15 Florida 38-19 on Saturday, snapping an eight-game SEC losing streak. It was coach Shane Beamer's first ranked win since the Gamecocks beat No. 12 Clemson in 2024, and the first time since 2014 that South Carolina has beaten Florida in Gainesville — where the Gators had been 17-2 in the series at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The 38 points were the most South Carolina has ever scored in Gainesville.
Quarterback LaNorris Sellers had a career day, going 23-of-35 for 279 passing yards and four touchdowns (second-most in his career), adding a rushing score and 20 rushing yards with zero interceptions.
The Gamecocks forced a season-high three turnovers — two interceptions and one fumble — and converted 10 of 16 third downs, racking up 161 of their 393 total yards on third-down plays.
The start of the third quarter was delayed 45 minutes by lightning, with play resuming at 3:05 p.m. Florida briefly cut the deficit to four early in the third quarter, but South Carolina answered with 21 straight points to pull away.
Florida suffered its second straight loss. Quarterback Aaron Philo went 21-for-28 for 227 yards and a touchdown but turned the ball over twice, throwing an interception and losing a fumble; backup Tramell Jones Jr. threw another interception. Star running back Jadan Baugh was held under 100 rushing yards for a second straight week. The Gators fell to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in SEC play.
South Carolina (3-3, 1-3 SEC) earned its first conference win since beating Kentucky 35-13 on Sept. 27, 2025. The Gamecocks have an open date before hosting Tennessee on Oct. 24.
