Alaska Senate Race Heats Up: Poll Shows Peltola Leading Sullivan as Trump Heads to Wasilla Tuesday

An InsiderAdvantage poll released October 11 shows Democrat Mary Peltola leading Republican incumbent Senator Dan Sullivan 50% to 48% after ranked-choice tabulation in Alaska's U.S. Senate race. The survey of likely voters carries a margin of error of plus or minus 2.83 percentage points. The Decision Desk election forecasting model also favors Peltola, giving her a 63% chance of winning.

To bolster Sullivan's bid for a third term, President Trump will head to Wasilla on Tuesday, October 13, for a rally at the Menard Memorial Sports Center. According to the Republican National Committee's schedule, the rally begins at 2 p.m., with Trump expected to speak at 3:30 p.m. The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a drone flight restriction over Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson from 3:35 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. Tuesday and a VIP flight advisory for Anchorage and Wasilla, with broader temporary flight restrictions likely to follow.

Last week Trump also urged Alaska voters on social media to repeal ranked-choice voting in a November referendum, and he has publicly endorsed Sullivan. Ranked-choice voting was a key backdrop to Peltola's previous victories, and the outcome of this Senate race is being closely watched nationwide.
