Treasury Wine Sells Rosemount Brand Back to Founding Oatley Family

Australian winemaker Treasury Wine Estates announced on 12 October 2026 that it had sold the Rosemount, Ingoldby and Secret Stone brands to A.G. Oatley Wines for an undisclosed sum. Reuters reported that the sale returns Rosemount to the family that founded it, as the Penfolds maker continues its strategy of condensing its 76 brands into a priority portfolio of 30 global and regional brands.
Rosemount was part of the late Australian wine magnate Robert Oatley's empire. It merged with Southcorp in 2001 to create what was then Australia's largest wine company; Foster's Group bought Southcorp in 2005, and the wine business was spun off in 2011 as the listed Treasury Wine Estates. The Rosemount sale follows Treasury Wine's recent divestment of the Seppelt, Rouge Homme and Tollana brands to local owners.
A.G. Oatley Wines owner Sandy Oatley said the family was thrilled to bring Rosemount home. The sale is expected to complete on 23 October, with Treasury Wine retaining royalty-free rights to sell Rosemount in Europe for up to three years to manage the transition.
Australia's wine industry has been adjusting to shifting export markets and consumer trends, with major producers refocusing on premium and priority brands. How the Oatley family repositions Rosemount, and which non-core brands Treasury Wine divests next, will be watched closely by the industry.
