Austin City Limits Wraps Up Two Weekends of Music: Sun, Dust, and Food Steal the Show

AUSTIN — Austin is a city in Travis County, Texas. After two three-day weekends, the Austin City Limits Music Festival officially wrapped up on Oct. 11 at Zilker Park, closing with a sun-drenched second weekend — and food as the weekend's biggest winner.
Following a muddy kickoff during Weekend One, the weather cleared up just in time for Weekend Two, bringing back crowds of fans eager for more live music. While headline acts drew thousands, festivalgoers spent most of their money at local food vendors: tacos, chicken shawarma, corn dogs, cheeseburgers, Dubai chocolate strawberries, ice cream, and chicken strips were among the top purchases.
"I've had some amazing tacos, chicken shawarma... like really good food," fan Andrea Garza told FOX 7 Austin. Returning third-year attendee Sherrie Sludge said she loved the corn dogs and cheeseburgers, while fan Lyla Hughes cited "specifically the Dubai chocolate strawberries and the ice cream and a lot of chicken strips."
The heavy food spending aligns with the festival's substantial economic footprint. According to last year's ACL economic report, the festival contributed over $557 million to Austin's local economy — including $118.8 million on food and beverages, $87.4 million on hotel lodging, and $33.1 million on flights.
Fans also came prepared for central Texas's shifting weather, trading last weekend's rain boots for bandanas to block out the dusty trail air. "This is my third year coming here, and the dust the last two years was definitely way worse," Sludge said.
